Fate of Gannavaram Airport has changed after announcing capital to the state which is nearer to the Airport. It is currently existed in 536 acres and plans to extend another 698 acres for the development. Four years back, there were just two air services operated per day from Gannavaram. After 2011, the number air services increased to 9. Now the situation has changed after announcing Tullur as Capital of AP.


Currently, 22 air services from different airlines operated from Gannavaram airport. Air India, Spice jet and Air Coasta operated their services from this Airport. Ram Charan’s Megha Turbo Airlines soon start its services. 40-50 seats (120 capacities) were always vacant in every plane that runs from Gannavaram. Presently, 95% seats are occupied in every plane. Sometimes, extra booking is also happened. Newly introduced Vijayawada to Delhi Air India service is always rushed.



Runway has extended from 7K feet to 14K in this airport. Immigration and Customs Check-in facilities have to provide in next four months. There was loss in maintaining Gannavaram Airport in 2013-14 but it comes to Break-Even in this financial year. Gannavaram comes under “C” class airport. Aviation Ministry will announce to upgrade the code directly to “F” after providing some infrastructure facilities in Airport.
