There is lot of change in development in Airports in the state since Ashokgajapathy Raju took the charge as Minister for Aviation. Brisk progress has seen in development of Visakhapatnam airport. Air connectivity drastically increased to Visakhapatnam to other countries. Direct Planes are running from Malaysia to Visakhapatnam thrice in week. Air plane services to Colombo, Dubai and Singapore started from Vizag.
Ashokgajapathy Raju has sanctioned 60 crores for increasing Parking Bays from 8 to 14 in Vizag Port. Since last 6 months 32% of the passengers increased in Vizag port. As per latest stats, 20 lac people per year are travelled through Vizag Airport. Tirupati new air terminal will start soon with 174 crores. New Terminal will constructed in 22K square feet and cater 700 passengers per hour. Air traffic in Tirupati increased 10% compared to last year.
Vijayawada (Gannavaram) Airport extension works are started and 26% traffic increased in this airport. There will be plan of introducing direct flights to Singapore and Malaysia from Gannavaram within a year. On a whole, Ashokgajapathy Raju is working hard to clear the pending permissions and initiate to operate new development works in the development of Airports in the state.
