The Bolshaya Udina volcano in Russia that was previously considered to be extinct has awakened, and scientists are now warning of a possible catastrophic eruption!

It was believed this particular volcano was extinct until 2017, when scientists detected increasing seismic activity beneath it, Ivan Koulakov a geophysicist from Russia’s who led a study into the volcano, told he believes Bolshaya Udina should now be reclassified as active. And he also added at any moment, an eruption can occur. Even though he said that the volcano will be safely sent into the sea he also added ‘’When a volcano is silent for a long time, it’s first explosion can be catastrophic and very dangerous’’.

He added that when the eruption occurs a large amount of ash will be thrown into the air, it will be carried far away, this can lead to affecting the climate in “completely different parts of the world’’. He also said that the eruption will be similar to that of Pompeii - the awakening of Vesuvius that has been preceded by a lull for several thousand years.” He finally told a very shocking thing that the eruption can occur at any moment, but we definitely can’t say when!
