Ace director Maniratnam made a comeback last year with the multistarrer movie Chekka Chivantha Vaanam that featured Makkal Selvan vijay Sethupathi, simbu, Arun vijay, Arvind Swami, Jyothika, aditi rao hydari and Prakashraj which was a profitable venture.
After the success, Maniratnam revamped his dream project ponniyin selvan, the magnum opus film version of kalki Krishnamoorthy's epic novel which is penned by actor elango kumaravel and is bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
The latest news is that ponniyin selvan will feature 12 songs penned by vairamuthu and music scored by AR Rahman, as said in a recent interview. ponniyin selvan will star Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam ravi, karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Jayaram, Keerthy suresh and will begin rolling in December. The team started shooting in thailand and now we hear from reports that aishwarya Rai is yet to confirm her role and she hasn't signed the dotted line yet. Former miss world and Bachchan family princess aishwarya Rai, who was last seen in the disastrous outing Fanney Khan with anil kapoor and rajkummar rao, will soon be seen in silver screens of tamil Nadu as well.
