Story

After scoring a comeback hit with Jersey this year Natural star Nani is back in action joining hands with director Vikram K Kumar after his disastrous Hello, for Gang leader. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Gang leader review.

The movie begins with a bank robbery, and Saraswathi (Lakshmi) who's a victim of the incident forms a team of 4 other women victims priysa6(Priya Arul Mohan), Varalakshmi (Saranya), Swathi (Shriya Reddy) and Chinnu (Pranya). They choose writer Pencil Parthasarathy (Nani) as their gang leader, and once he accepts, they start investigating to find the culprits behind the crime. Their prime suspect happens to be India's number 1 car racer Dev(Kartikeya). Was Pencil and Gang able to prove Dev as the criminal and how the gang completed their revenge mission is what Gang leader is all about.

Star Performance

Nani is excellent as Pencil Parthasarathy, and he scores well with his comic timing and mannerism besides also excelling in conveying the emotions well. Priyanka Arul Mohan is a good find and she has delivered a neat performance. Veterans Lakshmi and Saranya are aptly cast and Shriya Reddy and Pranya are cute. Karthikeya is back on screen this time playing the antagonist and he gets a stylish new makeover and he makes the best use of this role with his menacing act. The rest of the cast including  Priyadarshi, Anish Kuruvilla and Vennela Kishore are adequate.

Techinical Team

Anirudh delivers a pulsating BGM that keeps the momentum going and makes the movie engaging while of his songs, Hoyna, Gangu leader, Ninnu choose are hum worthy. Cinematography by Miroslav Kuba Brozek is top notch and editing by Naveen Nooli makes sure Gang leader doesn't have a dull moment.

Analysis

After the failure of Hello, director Vikram K Kumar has teamed up with Natural star Nani for the first time, with a plot that looks very interesting and has achieved what he had intended to. Right from the word go the movie is entertaining, with the initial presentation of Pencil Parthasarathy's character, the introduction of the five women gang and the revengers assembling happens in a fun filled, interesting manner and the second half is filled with several goosebumps moments as Pencil guides the women through their revenge. Though there are drags occasionally, Vikram K Kumar makes sure he has fun moments in abundance to make the audience neglect the negatives. With a mostly pacy screenplay with its fair share of fun and twists, terrific performance by Nani, Lakshmi, Saranya and Priya, top class music by Anirudh and stunning visuals, Gang leader is a must watch fun entertainer for the weekend.
