Bala who is known to direct realistic movies was last seen in 'Paradesi'. Later he directed a movie titled 'Thaara Thappatai'. The movie features Sasikumar and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar in lead roles.
This movie is based on the traditional 'Karagaatam' dance. Ilayaraja has composed music for this movie and interestingly this is his 1000th movie. Studio 9 company R.K.Suresh plays the role of antagonist.
Technical team comprises of Chezhian for cinematography and T.Kishore for editing. Director Bala's B Studios are producing the movie and recently the overseas rights were bagged by Ayngaran International.
Now the movie has been confirmed for a release on Pongal. Overseas distributors Ayngaran international have tweeted and confirmed the news. So far Surya's '24' and Bala's 'Thaarai Thappatai' were confirmed for Pongal releases.
