Vijay's 'Theri'  which released on April 14th is 'showcased' as a success by celebrating it with a success meet. Kalaipuli.S.Dhanu who funded the project makes contradictory statements right from the start and now theatre owners have confirmed us that the movie never even made 50% of the investments.

Balakrishna Talkies Theatre owner from Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu said, "We often give priority to Vijay movies as they are Minimum guarantee. But his last few movies were flops and we stopped giving priority. Another leading theatre (Cleopatra) grabbed 'Puli' and 'Theri'.

Every one of us knew what happened to 'Puli'. But to show case that 'Puli' was not a flop, Vijay fans club leader came to the theatre and threatened the owner to make it run for at least 25 days. It was a huge loss and still the compensation is not paid.

During 'Theri', we hoped for a compensation. But from the producer's side once again they threatened with 'Kabali' and future big projects. We dropped the idea of releasing and once again the movie went to Cleopatra theatre. They sold tickets for 300 Rs. (A/c) and 250 Rs. (Balcony) and even then they can't get back the investments.

This is the real factor and this is common in Southern districts. Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Nagercoil also face same troubles. But despite these, they celebrate success with a cake cut !"
