Telangana government in the prospectus of the social welfare residential women’s degree colleges in the state went on to say that married women are not allowed there as they could distract others. The officials claim that the other girls in colleges will get distracted if the husbands of the married women visit their wives in the colleges.

A notification on the website of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) reads, “Online applications are invited only from women (unmarried) candidates for TSWDCET-2017 for admission into 1st year B.A/B.Com/B.Sc Degree English Medium Courses in TSW Residential Degree Colleges for Women for the Academic Year 2017-18.”

But then this condition seems to be in poor taste as they demean married women and also portray the unmarried women in the colleges as weak-hearted and are tentative to get distracted easily. Women Welfare Associations have already started protests over these ridiculous rules.
