According to sources before Shraddha Kapoor was finalized as the female lead in Prabhas's Saaho, the makers had practically confirmed that his fellow Baahubali actress Anushka Shetty would take up the role. However, owing to contentious issues regarding her weight the idea was dropped.
Meanwhile, according to a report, Alia Bhatt was approached to play Prabhas's heroine in Saaho. In fact, even her mentor Karan Johar convinced Alia to take up the role. Alia also came to know that the script is in such a way that it barely has screen space for the female lead role.
Moreover a few months earlier, when Alia was asked, who is her favorite South Indian actor was. She said "Prabhas." It is not known why she missed this golden opportunity.
