Chalo begins with the hero Naga Shourya entering a college in Tiruppuram, located in the Tamilnadu - Andhra Pradesh border, and the small town is especially known for its border quarrels With residents of towns on either side barred from entering the opposite side. Heroine Rashmika Mandanna also studies in the same college, and they fall in love eventually. However, the conflict existing in Tiruppuram plays spoilsport in their love story as well. Whether the lovebirds united, is what the fun-filled Chalo is all about.

Mahati Swara Sagar's tunes and Sai Sriram's Cinematography make Chalo a technically rich flick, but debutant Venky Kudumula's screenplay suffers from several hiccups like cliched sequences depicting the border quarrels and the love sequences set on a routine template sans freshness. However, with earnest performances from the lead pair, the charming Naga Shourya, and the cute debutant Rashmika Mandanna, who delivers a lovable act, Chalo ends up as an average fare which could've been much better with some interesting sequences and twists.
