One of the most successful and interesting Tamil television shows of 2017, was the reality show, Bigg Boss, which was the Tamil version of Bigg Boss which was hosted by Salman Khan in Hindi, which was the Indian version of the Big Brother reality show. The Tamil version was a stunner, as it had one of the biggest stars of Indian Cinema, and the legend who had always been the pride of Indian cinema with multiple Oscar entries, Padmashri Kamal Haasan, making his television debut.
While the show got its initial hype thanks to Ulaga Nayagan himself hosting the show, the contestants were mostly low profile, barring few established celebrities like the glam doll Namitha, the hottie Oviya, while the rest including Harathi, Ganesh Venkatram, Vaiyapuri, Lyricist Snehan etc gained huge fame more than what they had earned with their film careers. However, the dark horses and the ones who gained unexpected happened to be Aarav Nafeez, a Trichy based model who was a part of the controversy after an alleged affair with Oviya, and accusations of him kissing her, and ultimately going on to become the title winner,and defeating Snehan, who was touted to win the contest.
While Aarav has landed in two films including one directed by Silambattan director Saravanan, Harish Kalyan and Raiza have grabbed a film titled Pyaar Prema Kadhal directed by newbie Elan and produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja himself. Oviya, the public's favorite and the darling of the masses, got committed to few films like Raghava Lawrence starrer Kanchana 3, K2 with Vemal etc, besides few ad endorsements, while Namitha entered wedlock, and the rest of the celebs got into various programs, including the controversial girl who had used abusive hurls at politicians, Juliana, who bagged an offer to host a TV program.
With the season 1 of the much hyped, celebrated and promoted Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan ending a huge success, thanks to his witty talks, charming presence, and his equation with the contestants, everyone is now looking forward to the second season of the most popular game show, which happens in a closed house for 100 days, with celebrities and people from different walks of life-fighting it out for the title. With the expectations running high on the second season, there are numerous rumors on the season 2.
It has been speculated that Bigg Boss Season 2, which will be telecast in Star Vijay, might have the following people as the contestants : Actresses Sneha, Ramba, Television anchor DD aka Dhivyadarshini, Sreeja, Rio and Nandhini of Saravanan Meenakshi serial, Krishna of Deivamagal (the serial has just ended after running for 5 years), Actor RiyazKhan to name a few.
While the channel is trying hard to negotiate with Ulaga Nayagan Kamal haasan to host the second season as well, just like Salman Khan has been a regular for all the seasons, Kamal Haasan is likely to miss the show, as he has two final film commitments, Indian 2 and Vishwaroopam 2 to be completed, before venturing into politics full time, and hence, it has been speculated that Vijay TV might rope in either Madhavan, Suriya (who had previously hosted Neengalum Vellalam Oru kodi in the same channel in 2012), Arjun or Vikram to host the Season 2 of Bigg Boss.
