Though the strike against excessive prices set by digital service providers like Qube and UFO, started in all south industries, witnessed the Telugu and Karnataka film industries quitting the strike quicker before intensifying, the Tamil cinema industry alone continued the strike, which has been prolonged beyond a month.

With no Tamil movies releasing, the situation has become a boon for Telugu, Hindi and English movies, which are getting widest releases now. Usually, other language films won't get many screens, and will be limited to several main theatres alone. However, despite getting released in more than 40 Theatres, they never received great response.

However, the recent Telugu release Rangasthalam starring Samantha and Ramcharan and directed by Sukumar has released in more than 50 theatres in Chennai alone, with the Sathyam group theatres alone running daily 18 shows of the movie which is huge by any means.

While the film has grossed more than 1.63 crores in Tamilnadu, it has crossed a share of more than 70 lakhs in the state and has become Ramcharan's biggest blockbuster in the state, and is on a rampage. While Telugu industry had initially supported the Tamil industry, they went against their words, and Megastar Chiranjeevi family is said to be behind this change of stand by Telugu film industry.
