Though Tollywood comes up with more number of films than Bollywood in an year, it is also true that in terms of storylines and genres they have always stuck to the routine formula masalas. The importance of box office success is also there but it takes courage to do something out of conviction.
Two films which are currently creating a buzz among filmnagar circles are ‘Adavi Kachina Vennela’ and ‘Maaya’. The reason for that is the subjects both films are dealing. While ‘AKV’ has to do with the search of Lanke Bindalu in rural places which happens even today ‘Maaya’ is about extra sensory perception.
‘AKV’ is directed and produced by Vishwanath Reddy while ‘Maaya’ is produced by the duo of Madhura Sreedhar and MVK Reddy while national award winner Neelakanta is the director. While ‘AKV’ is already in the last stage of post production ‘Maaya’ has just hit the floors.
This is maybe the first time that such subjects are being attempted by noted names in the industry. And if they are accepted well by the audience then it will create a new trend in Tollywood with offbeat subjects getting preference. Let us see what happens.
