While Sensational director Shankar is busy in the post production works of his upcoming film 'I', he received a jolt in the form of a legal notice from Music Maestro Ilayaraja. It is said that Tamil film, Kappal has the 'remix and rearranged' version of Ilayaraja's hit film Karagaattakkaaran starring Ramarajan and Kanaka.Shankar is the producer of the film, which is directed by one of his former assistants. It is said that Shankar had an agreement with Agi Music Pvt Ltd to acquire the licence to remix the song but Ilayaraja's counsel says that the Madras High Court already granted an interim injection restraining Agi Music Pvt Ltd and others from exploiting the musical works of Ilayaraja for thousands of films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The notice urged Shankar to pay royalty for the song immediately to the ace music director or desist from using the song in the film right away. The notice also warned that Ilayaraja would take appropriate criminal or civil proceedings if Shankar failed to comply with the notice. We will have to see what Shankar does in this issue going further!
