Legendary Lata Mangeshkar is a renowned playback singer and is one of the most respected playback singers in India. She has sang for more than a 1000 Bollywood movies and has sung songs across 36 regional lanaguages.
She was awarded Bharat Ratna which is the India's highest civilian honour. The veteran singer today celebrates her 86th birthday and she gave a small interview to a leading magazine. She said,
The greatest gift I have received in my life is
"The greatest gift I have received in my life is the love that I've received from my well-wishers and fans! Woh pyar nahin hota toh na jaane hum kahaan hote (if it wasn't for that love I don't know where I would be).
I came back to film industry in 1947 and it was God's will. This had to happen. And it did. Trust me when I was establishing my career I had no time to think of the competition. I just did my work. My advice to youngsters is learn Hindustani classical music and they must not get carried away by overnight success. Humility is the key to longevity."
