The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notices to the Director General of Police (DGP), Superintendent of Police (North) and the Mapusa police inspector to appear before it on 1st February with respect to a complaint by a retired NRI.

The police earlier failed to respond and they have failed to take an action against those who dispossessed him of a house that he had purchased in Siolim. Francis De Souza (73) said he has purchased a house at Gaunsavaddo, Siolim by March 23, 2011. He started to reside there after making necessary renovations.

He made all those renovations to suit his own style. And by 2014 few persons from Mumbai has approached him and asked him vacate the house. De Souza was shocked and along with his lawyer Aires Rodriguez he filled a complaint when he was on a holiday to Mumbai.

And immediately the persons broke the door and they threw out all the goods and they took possession of the house. With respect to this he lodged a case and an FIR was registered at the Mapusa police station but the police have failed to act against the persons.
