An Indian who goes by the name Saroj Kumar Jha is appointed in a key position at the World Bank. President Jim Young Kim assigned him a role to provide strategic leadership to address the challenge of fragility, conflict and violence. Saroj Kumar Jha is an alumni of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kanpur.


Two weeks before he was working as World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia. He was in that post from 2012. Now he gets the position of Senior Director for the Fragility, Conflict and Violence Group at the World Bank.


He was appointed by World Bank President Jim Young Kim to provide strategic leadership to address the challenge of fragility, conflict and violence, working across the Bank Group and in close collaboration with partners.


To recall things, Jha joined World Bank by 2005 as Senior Infrastructure Specialist in the Sustainable Development Network. He slowly cemented his spot and he proved his mettle with  transformative innovations in regional cooperation, water and energy security. He also worked as head of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.
