During his first avatar as the chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh,  Chandrababu Naidu earned good deal of fame when it comes to encouraging sportspersons and other activities related to sports. Naidu constructed a sports stadium of some truly international standards at Gachi Bowli in Hyderabad.

He also built other stadiums all over the city for hosting the Afro-Asian Games and the National Games. Now, sources say that in his second stint as the CM of residuary AP, Naidu is reportedly planning to repeat the same feat in Visakhapatnam.

With Vizag lacking any international stadium of repute, the CM is planning for a state-of-the-art stadium which also includes synthetic athletic track getting ready at the earliest. This would enable the port city to start hosting international sports events.

Vizag collector N Yuvaraj is talking to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) for taking over nearly 250 acres of the 10,000 acres at its disposal. The government also identified about 70 acres of land in Anandapuram mandal for a second stadium. The main stadium will have a 8-lane 400 meters synthetic track, a 10-lane sprint track as well as a 4 lane synthetic warm up track including a football field of international standards.
