Firebrand Telangana leader and veteran actress Vijayashanti is all set to take a formal plunge into Congress as widely expected for the last ten days. Vijayashanthi started her political career with BJP and was chosen as the head of the party’s women wing by L.K.Advani, with whom she is considered very close.
After the defeat of TDP-BJP combine in 2004, she started her own party called Talli Telangana party which she had later merged with TRS. But there has been speculation of she jumping into Congress during YSR’s last days in 2009 but later reconciled with gulabi boss. For that matter, KCR tagged her as his sister.
But history has taken a full circle for Ramulamma as she was a staunch critics of Congress all the while but now with Congress all set to grant statehood for Telangana, sources say she felt secure of her political future now and will be joining the grand old party in the presence of Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath today.
