The Congress party may have proudly declared that the new capital for new Andhra Pradesh will be built and up and running in ten years. But historians dispute the fact saying even to this day, Chandigarh has a host of problems even after 40 years of bifurcation.
Moreover, India’s economic growth is coming down and it will be an illusion to expect that at once 1 to 2 lakh crores will be given for a new capital. It may be given in installments and will take at least three decades to develop it to medium range, if not excellently.
Moreover in case Congress is kicked out of power, there is no guarantee as to who will allocate the funds for new capital and why they would do that. United AP supporters say that such huge sum can be spent on development of many places in Andhra Pradesh instead of building a new capital which is more sensible!
