hyderabad: With the much-awaited announcement of election schedule for the Huzurnagar by-election, various political parties including Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Congress and BJP are gearing up for the prestigious election and working out strategies. This election is being considered as crucial by all major parties for various reasons.

While the TRS wants to snatch away the seat being held by Congress and also prove its strength in the area, Congress wants not only to retain the seat but also prove a point with regards to the deflection of Congress MLAs, that was allegedly encouraged by the ruling party in the state. BJP, on the other hand wants to prove a point that the party is gaining strength in the state and also endorse that the party victory in Lok Sabha elections in the state was not just by fluke.

Analysts say, winning Huzurnagar seat is important primarily for TRS as it is seen an endorsement for the ten months rule of the party. TRS has announced Sanampudi Saidireddy as its candidate in this bypoll too. Both Congress and BJP are expected to announce their candidates in the next couple of days. Congress party is likely to field Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife and former MLA Padmavathi. BJP had fielded Bobba Bhayga Reddy and is in a dilemma as to whether to field the same candidate or rope in a strong leader from other parties. In the 2014 and 2018 elections, Telganana Pradesh Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy won from the assembly segment.

Uttam Kumar asserted that he was confident of the party’s victory in the polls. He also held a meeting of Congress party workers in Neredcherla in the same assembly constituency along with another senior leader K Jana Reddy. He alleged that TRS was trying to use money and muscle power in the elections. BJP party sources said a decision on the candidate would be taken in the next core committee meeting and get approval of BJP’s national leadership.
