As per report it was stated that now, we can carry our own food and water bottles inside the movie theatres without asking for a deposit outside.  Meanwhile the new and easy rule has been implied to all multiplexes and theatres, said, the hyderabad City police and recently a case has been filed by hyderabad based anti-corruption activist vijay Gopal and responding to the RTI query registered, the cops have clarified there are no curbs by law to carry food and water inside cinema halls. Furthermore as per the cinema Regulation Act of 1955, the public who come to watch a movie in theatres have zero restrictions in carrying their food boxes or water bottles.

Reportedly many multiplexes despite the law stop the public from taking their food inside citing security issues. Perhaps it was obvious that a cinema is in business to sell attractive food and drinks to customers and bringing in our own, might doom their profits. In 2017, vijay Gopal had filed a complaint with the hyderabad Consumer Forum regarding the same and INOX multiplex was ordered to pay up Rs 5,000. Also, extra Rs 1,000 was directed to pay as vijay was charged extra on water bottles and on this, INOX  was also asked to discontinue the unfair trade practice.

Moreover as per the latest RTI response also suggests that no single screen theatres can charge a customer for providing 3D glasses.  Plus, they should not stop a customer from carrying his/her own 3D glasses to a theatre if they do not wish to pay for it.
