Solar eclipse occurs when moon passes between the Earth and the sun such that it partially or completely blocks the sun. There are two types of eclipse - total or partial and annular and in total eclipse, the moon completely blocks the sun, and in partial eclipse, a part of the sun only gets blocked.

sun rays are strong enough to burn the cells in retina ultimately resulting in permanent blindness. When we look at the sun, when we instinctively squint and look away due to extreme brightness, the retina is saved and pupils contract to the small size to shut maximum light.

When moon covers most of the sun, the sun and when we see, there's pupil shrinkage making the sky look dark but the rays when they enter eyes kill cells on retina and there's hugs vulnerability of damaging vision and hence scientists suggest to use welding-grade glass filters for eclipse-watching. This Annular Solar Eclipse will last for a span of 3 minutes and 40 seconds. A partial solar eclipse will appear at 7:59:53 am IST on december 26. A full solar eclipse will appear at 9:04:33am IST, and then move to maximum eclipse position at 10:47:46 am IST.
