The State election commission had announced postponing the local elections for a period of Six Months. The election commission has opined that Crores of Citizens and government Employees' health will be at risk if elections are held. Moreover, the commonly touched surfaces in the Polling Stations and the mass campaigns are high risks to spread Coronavirus.

The election commission had revealed that the Model Code of Conduct will continue until the election process is completed. This will be a real threat to Andhra Pradesh. Six weeks of break and another 2-3 weeks to complete the election process will mean that the code is going to be there for around two months which means a virtual halt to all the development activities in the name of the code. The State government is very upset with this decision and has complained to the Governor.
