Reportedly as per the state government's decision on monday, maharashtra has decided to reopen schools for classes 9 to 12 along with junior colleges in the non-red zones from July 1. Classes from 6 to 8 will reopen in August.The decision was taken on monday evening by maharashtra chief minister uddhav thackeray at a meeting which was attended by school education minister varsha Gaikwad and other officials as well.

 

While india noted 3.43 lakh Covid-19 cases on june 16, maharashtra has the highest number of cases among the states. Though in some areas schools could not be opened, the process of teaching cannot be stopped. Education minister Gaikwad stated that the government was trying to use the All india Radio (AIR) network to reach out to maharashtra students with the curriculum. However, certain teachers' and principals' unions have demanded that all schools should be reopened in the state only from august owing to the high number of Covid-19 cases.
