In what is being seen as hasty retreat, sources say that the city
police commissioner of Vijayawada, D Gautam Sawang was reportedly
forced to suspend his planned foreign jaunt to Australia and head the
investigations in the call money case. He was all set for his 10-day
foreign tour from this Thursday .
With
rumours doing that political pressure motivated his shifting out,
Sawang has put an end to all such speculations by staying put for taking
this case to its logical conclusion. The case has generated a lot of
heat already with the ruling party leaders & financiers links now
fully coming out in the open.
Sawang had
hurriedly convened a media conference where he announced that he wasn't
going anywhere. He also added that CM gave strict instructions for not
sparing the accused no matter how much big they are. He had also hinted
that there was no political pressure from any quarter on him.
Once
the news of CP's tour to Australia actually broke out, opposition
parties and also victims cried foul over the sudden departure and urged
him to put this off for bringing all the accused to justice. Sawang’s
leave was reportedly approved by the DGP nearly a month ago.
