The state of Telangana has the most number of colleges. But on a sad note, only Telangana produces lesser number of graduates. A shocking statistics reveal this data. For every one lakh people, only 22% of them have completed their graduation. The data was taken as part of census.

As per the statistics, only 14 lakh people out of 68 lakhs (above 16 years) have completed their degree course. This is pretty low considering the Annual Status of Higher Education (ASHE) report which released last month.

Regarding this, Papi Reddy who is the chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education said, "Due to the fees reimbursement scheme the government is forced to pay the fees to the institute. This is the reason behind more number of colleges.

So from last year we stopped giving permit to new colleges. But AP has issued permit to 300 colleges. Students are also not getting the seriousness regarding their graduation."

District: Percentage of graduates
