Once again Sri Lankan navy has arrested four Rameshwaram Fishermen and their boats on charges of poaching their territorial waters. This is just getting so common as few months back similar incident happened and after lots of protests and requests, the fishermen were released.


Now Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha has wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing her concern over the frequent arrests of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan navy.


She said, "I request the Centre to take necessary action to restore the boats and fishing gear of these poor fishermen." Reports said that with the latest arrest, the total number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody has risen to 51. Reports further added that all four fishermen were taken to Thalaimannar in Sri Lanka along with their boat.


Their boats and fishing nets were also damaged. Regarding this arrest, Mechanized Boat Fishermen Association President T.Sesuraja said, "Lankan navy damaged the fishing nets of several boats and they have issued a threat too."
