Andhra Pradesh people are all set to face a weird experience in next few days. The people are going to be categorized based on the domestic consumption. Right now the domestic tariff is similar for everyone. Based on the number of units the domestic current is calculated.
But now power distribution companies have proposed a new three-tier structure and due to this new structure a high revenue is targeted. The annual revenue requirement (ARR) document is already provided to the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) by discoms and it clearly states that the consumers will be divided into five slabs and merged into three groups.
Group A has consumers who consume current less than 600 units in a year. Group B consumers consume current more than 600 units and less than 2400 units in a year.
And finally Group C consumers consume more than 2400 units. The consumers will continue to be in the same group for the entire year. The consumers must make themselves prepared to pay more tariff in upcoming days.
