Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with Seth Berkley who is CEO of Gavi. Gavi is a global vaccine company and they proposed to have a new strategic partnership with India for 2016-2021. This will see more fund support up to $500 Million to accelerate the introduction of modern vaccines.
The issue was discussed with Chief Executive Officer of Gavi Seth. Modi made all the debate. They also discussed some innovations in vaccines. Berkley appreciated some of the new innovatives such as 'Mission Indradhanush' and 'Make in India', both of which are improving childhood immunization in India.
As per 'Mission Indradhanush', un-vaccinated children will be provided vaccine. The new partnership will provide vaccines which will protect children against penumonia and diarrhoea.
They will also cure measles and cervical cancer. Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is a public-private global health partnership committed to increasing access to immunization in poor countries. India has made lots of strategic alignments with Gavi. Watch out this space for more updates.
