Yesterday Tamil Nadu Governor K.Rosaiah told at the assembly that Phase-II of Chennai Metro Rail Project begins. This phase II will cover 88Kms and it will be fast tracked. This will outline progress in other schemes.


He further said, "Preparatory works for Phase II of Chennai Metro Rail Project which will cover a length of 88 Kilometre along 3 corridors at a cost of Rs.44000 Crores. Things will be fast-tracked with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) assistance.


The first Metro Rail was launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha in June 2015. The train covered a stretch of 10.15 Kilometers. Regarding other infrastructure projects, Rosaiah said, Under Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme Rs.14,841 Crores was sanctioned.


Under the Chief Minister's Solar Powered Green House Scheme, work for construction of three lakh houses was taken up at a cost outlay of Rs 5,940 crore in the past four and a half years. Rosaiah also praised Jayalalitha for completing all projects on time.
