NASA is recently showing more interest in Mars due to the image which was released by Washington D.C. The image showed a small car size laboratory beside a dark dune where it has been scooping and sieving samples of sand.

Currently the satellite struck 57 images at the Mars with Mars Hand Lens Image (MAHLI) camera. The rover has been investigating the sand dunes for more than 60 days. It is studying the way the wind moves and also analyzes the particles on Mars.

The site is part of Bagnold Dune Field, which lines the northwestern flank of Mars' Mount Sharp. The Rover also collected its first of three scoops of sand from that dune. A scientist said that an actuator while processing never performed as expected when the command was passed.

Steve Lee who is the Deputy project manager for Curiosity at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA said, "The rover stopped moving the actuator and there has been a problem in sampling system."
