Kumbakonam is a divine place and it is known for the divine spots. In this case, Jothimalai bhakts has threatened Government to close all TASMAC shops at Kumbakonam before MagaaMagam. Now this issue has sparked a controversy.
Coming 13th, Magaamagam will happen at Kumbakonam and it will happen till 22nd. And right now Government is making various steps with respect to this event. But Government is just keeping muted response with respect to TASMAC shops. Moreover, few shops were located so close to the temple. This was asked to shut down for a long period.
But all the requests were just like words on deaf man. The people and social activists has staged lots of protests and so far there has been no use in it. Now in this case, sages have threatened that they will intense the protests if Government doesn't step up and take necessary actions before Kumbakonam Magamagam.
One of the resident said, "Hope Tamil Nadu Government still remembers the bad things which happen due to this liquor. We even struck posters all over the city regarding this. Minister Viswanathan who spoke at assembly said there are no liquor shops near Temple. This is a clear lie."
