Now comes a new trouble for Matrimony websites too. Government has asked a new proposal where they have asked brides and grooms to submit id and address proof before registering on Matrimonial websites.
Several matchmaking portals like Bharatmatrimony, Jeevan Saathi and Shaadi are now staring at a dip in global users. The strategy head of Matrimony website said, "More than 8000 profiles were uploaded on our website each day. It is practically impossible to verify every persons identities.
If we have to implement what the ministry of women and child development (WCD) is proposing, it will defeat the internet's purpose." At the same time Telecom companies and Banks are required to follow KYC (Know Your Customer) norms as a practice to counter terrorism and other mishaps.
Another person said, "These days it is like anyone can start a matrimony website. My parents created a profile for me. I too have created few profiles to check the response rate. This gives me a free sense." Whatever, Cyber Crime has a new enemy !
