Customers need to pay their water bills promptly here after. Else meter readers will force them to do it on time. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board's (HMWS&SB) decided to use GPS to track Bill defaulters.


Telangana Government recently faced deficit of hundreds of crores as the water bills were not paid prompt by various people. A report said Rs.457.75 Crore arrears was found recently and  the water board conducted a series of meetings with general managers of 16 operation and maintenance (O&M) divisions and meter readers to look at ways to improve revenue.


The water board will issue bills to 8.6 lakh customers in Greater Hyderabad. As per the bills, the water board will earn Rs.98 Crores per month. But all of a sudden, the revenue dropped to Rs.77 Crores.


VL Praveen Kumar who is HMWS&SB chief general manager said, "The Government turned lethargic and customers stopped paying the bills. The Water Board has now decided to track customers and meter readers using modern tools, including global positioning system (GPS)."
