Suresh Prabhu presented second Rail budget and he promised to restructure and rejuvenate Indian Railways. He also promised to enhance amenities in all trains and railway stations. He said keeping safety as first priority, he announced all unmanned level crossings will be eliminated by 2020.
CCTVs will be installed in 311 stations in this year. Also he said as everyone owns a smartphone these days, he has promised to keep Wifi for 100 stations and 400 stations in next two years. And going by Swachh Bharat mission he said cleanliness is also given huge importance.
He proposed a cleaning idea through SMS. A simple text from a disgruntled passenger will be enough to get toilets, coaches or stations cleaned. 17000 bio toilets will also be set in 475 stations in this year.
From now on, food will be hygienic and the menu will include baby food, hot milk and clean water at all stations. e-catering will also be increased drastically. For sake of entertainment, FM Radio stations will be installed in trains too. A high speed passenger train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai will be revealed shortly.
