DMK Party has urged the Election Commission to prevent the flow of money during the upcoming assembly elections. DMK Party's Organization secretary R.S.Bharathi met Chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni submitted a memorandum in this regard.
He said, "Election Commission is making various amendments to stop flow of money. But still the flow of money happens in most parts of Tamil Nadu. It is an Open secret that Government is reported to move cash of Rs.20 Crores through ambulances and government vehicles including police vehicles.
Intelligence department already provided this news. During 2014 Lok sabha elections, Under Section 144 there were lots of strict rules. But still there was free flow of money.
As a handful of officials are functioning like party members, the role of Election Commission, starting from the model code of conduct becomes paramount in protecting the basic fabric of our democracy." Another inside source said that Government officials and some cops themselves are transferring the money.
