A motion expressing no confidence moved by opposition YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh Assembly against Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada was defeated by 40 votes. 57 members from YSRCP voted in favour of the motion and 97 voted against the motion.


Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad announced it after making a head count. YSRCP earlier took a hit against speaker stating that he was acting in a biased manner and he is trying to curb the opposition. YSRCP wanted removal of Mr.Rao as speaker.


Members of YSRCP, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and others spoke in favour of the motion and TDP members such as Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, Pitani Satyanarayana and others opposed it. P.Vishnu Kumar from BJP said that making a no-confidence motion against the Speaker was unfortunate.


And soon after things went along his way, Speaker returned to the house to preside over the proceedings. He thanked the House for reposing the faith in him. The speaker said that he was pained as Opposition party and it's leader decided to move no-confidence motion against him. He said he will always be thankful to YSRCP for selecting him unanimously in 2014.
