The ruling TDP has won over the former union minister Sai Pratap, considered a very loyal Congress strongman in Rayalaseema. The TDP has made an official announcement in this regard today. Sources say that this six-time MP from Rajampet constituency in Kadapa district has finally agreed to join the yellow party!

Sai Pratap, who  also served as the minister of state for steel, has close links with former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Since Sai Pratap has now left the Congress, the party will be literally left with no senior leader in the Kadapa district.

The TDP inviting Sai Pratap into its fold forms part of its strategy to attract the numerically strong Balija community of Rayalaseema region. The ruling party is all set to even take former minister Gade Venkata Reddy, a veteran leader from Prakasam district!

The TDP leadership is reportedly holding talks with the former minister DL Ravindra Reddy, who is politically inactive for quite some time while Chandrababu Naidu is now focussing all his energies on Rayalaseema for weakening the YSRCP! This looks like a good move.
