The state run NTPC has on April 8th entered into a MoU with the Hyderabad Police to provide financial assistance of Rs. One crore for the community CCTV project under its Corporate Social Responsibility and community development has entered into a MoU for the installation of CCTV cameras in old city areas.


The NTPC is the first PSU to team up with the Hyderabad Police for the installation of CCTV cameras at areas which are falling under Kamatipura Police Station limits. The CCTV camera project is the biggest of its kind to be taken anywhere in India. The Closed Circuit Television cameras technology will act as a force multiplier and helps in checking crimes and violation of traffic rules.


The Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahendra Reddy has told that the Telangana government has come forward to contribute about Rs.1,200 crores in terms of transforming Hyderabad city police into a citizen friendly, citizen centric and technology driven police organization.


One of the elements of this entire project has been to cover the whole city with one lakh CCTV cameras all will be networked and monitored at multiple levels. Presently the police are setting up CCTV cameras at various locations in the city as part of the community CCTV project.
