Andhra Pradesh has reportedly earned more revenues than its twin
Telugu state, Telangana. Two years back Telangana had reported more
revenues from tax and also non-tax categories. But, for the first time,
Andhra Pradesh has exceeded it by recording a 16 per cent increase in
revenues.
For the first time, AP has also
surpassed Telangana in tax and non-tax revenue categories which includes
income from commercial taxes, liquor sale, transport, and stamps and
registration. Andhra Pradesh has received Rs 90,122.58 crore in revenue
receipts during 2015-16.
It has achieved 100
per cent target while Telangana`s revenue receipts are Rs 88,550 crore.
Even all of the revenue earning departments have posted impressive
collections in 2015-16 although there are 450 mandals which are
drought-hit with nil farm production.
AP has
reported 16 per cent rate of revenue growth as against the national
rate of 7.9 per cent while curtailing the revenue deficit to Rs 7,143
crore. With this the AP government is all set to approach the Centre for
seeking an increase in the FRBM limit to 4 per cent so for raising Rs
5000 crore more in loans from outside.
