On Friday the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hyderabad city police to provide financial help of one crore rupees for the community’s Closed Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) project and the NTPC has signed the MoU and it is the first PSU to team up with the Hyderabad police for installation of CCTV cameras.


The Telangana government has currently started the process of setting up a 24 storied Command Control Center at Banjara Hills, which will be connected with the city-wide community CCTV surveillance system which consist of over a lakh of CCTV cameras.


The Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahendra Reddy has told that the CCTV camera is the biggest project of its kind to be taken up anywhere in India. Several important installations will be mapped round the clock through the surveillance cameras and the CCTV camera technology will act as a force multiplier and will help in checking crimes and violation of traffic rules.


All the cameras once established and networked will be driven with analytics and Reddy anticipates with one lakh cameras in the Hyderabad city. Hyderabad will become safer and secure from point f view of commoner, women and children. Presently the police are setting cameras at various locations in the city as part of the community CCTV Project.
