Just after a week Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit said, "Peace process is suspended", Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman Nafees Zakaria has said that negotiations with India was pretty much open. Zakaria responded to a question when he was asked whether the door was still open for negotiations.

He said, "Yes, Dialogue is the best option. Diplomacy is for interaction and engagement between countries. t is hoped that both sides would work out modalities for the FS-level talks. We need to look ahead and not think in terms of foreclosing any options.

Both the sides are in touch with each other and once the models are worked out, Secretary level talks will take place. But so far, we have never scheduled any meeting. I think at present the peace process is suspended. "

Secretary level talks between two nations was suspended this January due to the  cross-border terror attack on the Pathankot Indian Air Force base on January 2nd. Once again bilateral dialogues were expected between external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Sartaj Aziz.
