On Sunday the young boys and girls has taken a skating rally to create awareness among the people to ensure 100% polling in the upcoming assembly elections. The event was organized by the Salem chapter of the Young Indians of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the title “Salem 100%”.

The members of Salem skaters club have participated in the rally and have covered a distance of 13 kms. They have displayed badges underlining the importance of people voluntarily exercising their vote without fail on May 16 and have urged the people to select the right candidate.

The rally was flagged off from near the new bus stand by Vimalan, the Chairman of CII Salem chapter before the presence of S.S Yuvaraj the vice chairman. The participants have passed via four roads, collectorate round about, Cherry round and Hasthampatti.

Public awareness campaigns can encourage the voter participation and make important information ubiquitous, and thereby reducing the barriers at the ballot box. The Vice Chairman of the CII has planned to give an incentive to the voters running a campaign called as “show the ink, see the price sink”. From May 16th to 30th, additional discount for few brands will be given to voters who sport their inked finger.
