Telugu Desam Party president and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu is now
more or less facing a piquant situation now. This is involving the
mighty NTR Trust Bhavan building that is located on Road No. 2, Banjara
Hills, Hyderabad. It is a major landmark in the city.
The
party was born in 1982 in Hyderguda and its headquarters was located in
the heart of city at Himayathnagar on the main road from Narayanaguda
to Basheerbagh. After taking over from NTR, in 1997-98, slowly the party
shifted from there to posh Banjara hills. Many say that this shift also
marked shift of its pro-poor policies to pro-rich.
Until
now this edifice was buzzing with lots of activity, being the TDP State
headquarters. As Andhra Pradesh got bifurcated and Chandrababu shifting
everything from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, NTR Bhavan has become more or
less irrelevant for the party.
Now it is not
clear what will happen to NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad. Just to
accommodate Revanth Reddy and other small set of leaders, the party
cannot function from such a massive building. If the building is closed,
then it will fully demoralize the left over cadre!
