M.K. Stalin the DMK treasurer has on Tuesday categorically affirmed that his party was firm in implementing total prohibition if it comes to power. Mr. Stalin has asserted at an election meeting which was organized at Kunnam and he added that not a drop of liquor would be in Tamil Nadu once the DMK comes to power.


When Stalin was seeking support for DMK candidates and its allies who are contesting in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts, Stalin has said that the DMK had made it clear in its poll manifesto that total prohibition would be implemented.


Mr. Stalin has said that Ms. Jayalalitha had no locus standi to accuse the DMK on the prohibition issue as Tasmac shops which is proliferated across the State during the AIADMK regime pursuant to a government order issued in November 2003. It was during the DMK regime in 1974 that liquor shops were closed in the State and subsequently they were opened during the AIADMK regime.


Stalin has also added that all those schemes which are initiated by the DMK that were put in cold storage in the last five years would be implemented once the party comes to power. Stalin has walked around on the streets in Perambalur town seeking support from the electorate for his party and its allies.
