31 constituencies in South 24 Parganas and 18 in Hooghly districts besides four in South Kolkata go to polls in the penultimate phase of the six-phase election. The fifth phase of election takes place for 53 seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha poll, TMC got 49 out of 53 seats.

8:50am : The workers of a Birla Group plant said that only 20 of they, out of 1500, voted. They gave a call to boycott polls.
