The Collector and District Election Officer C. Samayamoothy has inspected the exercise at Tirunelveli Taluk office and he as stated that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), after the fixing of ballot papers it would be kept in boxes, which would be sealed and then kept in the Taluk Offices concerned until the machines were taken to the polling booths with adequate security.


The Insertion of ballot papers into electronic voting machines was carried out in the presence of Collector and District Election Officer M. Ravikumar and the Thoothukudi Sub Collector and Returning Officer S. Gopala Sundara Raj, currently the EVMs are being kept under tight security.


Same way the Fixing of ballot papers on EVMs has begun in the six Assembly constituencies of Kanyakumari district before the presence of representatives of political parties and the Collector and District Election Officer Sajjansingh R. Chavan has inspected the work at Agasteeswaram taluk office in Nagercoil constituency.


A total number of 2,570 EVMs and 1,942 control units have been allocated to the six constituencies in the district and Nagercoil Returning Officer S. Madhiyazhagan, Assistant Returning Officer A.V. Murthy, representatives of political parties Leenus Raj of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Manikandan of Bharatiya Janata Party were present during the time of fixing of ballot papers in EVMs.
