All the 28 prison inmates in the Madurai range who has written the Class 12 Tamilnadu state board examinations has come out with flying colors with some of them scoring more than 1000 marks out of 1200.


Sources have stated that nine of these 28 prisoners are inmates of Madurai Central Prison while 19 others are serving their sentences in Palayamkottai Central Prison where B Papanasam, an inmate in Palayamkottai prison has scored 1084 while Ramesh from Madurai Central Prison has secured 1044 marks.


R. Kanagaraj the deputy inspector general of prisons, Madurai range has said the consistent efforts of prison authorities had given the positive results as more prisoners have started appearing in public up examinations and they are glad that all the inmates who have written the exams have scored good marks.


Kanagaraj has also told that the prisoners who have written the board exams were trained by external teachers with the help of NGOs and these teachers have taken special classes on weekends.
