In what is being seen as a political one-upmanship, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu held the `Mahasankalp' programme in the bastion of YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy's native Kadapa district yesterday.

The programme was planned to be held at Ongole but from 4.15 pm it was held for two hours at the municipal grounds in Kadapa town today. This is seen as a sharp escalation of the rivalry between two arch rivals. At the moment, Naidu seems to be holding an upper hand in it.

Naidu, who completed two years in office  this week has been observing a fully week-long `Nava Nirmana Deeksha' from June 2, the day when the `Samaikhya' Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated. It has culminated into `Mahasankalp' on June 8 and has proved to be a successful one.

Sources say that Naidu has intentionally chosen Kadapa town of backward Rayalaseema region to counter his rival, the YSRCP boss Jaganmohan Reddy, who has recently launched a scathing political tirade to counter the TDP government.
